Eligibility Criteria for UPSC ESE 2024

The eligibility criteria for UPSC ESE 2024 include nationality, educational qualification and age limit. The candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria before applying for UPSC ESE 2024:

  • Nationality: The candidates must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Educational Qualification: The candidates must have a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The candidates who are in their final year of Engineering degree can also apply provided they submit proof of passing by January 1, 2025.
  • Age Limit: The candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as on January 1, 2024. In other words, their date of birth should fall between January 2, 1994 and January 1, 2003. The upper age limit is relaxable by five years for SC/ST candidates, three years for OBC candidates and ten years for PwD candidates.
